Tips for Yoga Beginners

What do I wish someone had told me as a beginner yogi??? IT’S NOT AS EASY AS IT LOOKS!!!! But it is very doable as long as you are willing to f*uck up a little bit along the way. In this blog post, I’m sharing with you my top 10 tips for beginner yogis to know before your first class.

  1. You’re going to make mistakes and its okay.

  2. Focus on counting your breath to help you avoid falling asleep in savasana.

  3. You don’t have to be flexible to start yoga.

  4. If you pass gas during yoga—just laugh it off and keep it moving.

  5. If you fall out of a pose, get back up an try again.

  6. You’re probably going to sweat and it’s normal if you do. Bring a towel.

  7. You don’t have to chant or “om” in class if it makes you uncomfortable.

  8. Yoga teachers may help you or assist you during class.

  9. Try not to compare yourself to other people. Everyone is different.

  10. Consider starting with private yoga to learn the basics before trying group classes.
